On the first day of class students are expected to bring a signed copy of the Think Move Chess Academy Behavioral Contract linked below.
After-School Forms
Parents are expected to:
● Read the behavioral contract with their child to make sure they understand what is expected of them
● Pick up students within 10 minutes of class ending
● Support instructors in maintaining a healthy classroom environment
● Reinforce Think Move Chess Academy’s core values of respect, study, planning, initiative, and perseverance outside of the classroom
● Assist students in using any take home materials, including online tools such as the Chess Kid learning platform
Students are expected to:
● Behave in a way that is respectful to themselves, each other, and the classroom
● Follow all instructions given by the instructors
● Be careful stewards of their own belongings as well as the equipment provided by Think Move Chess Academy
● Remain seated during classroom activities unless required by the instructor
● Do their best to learn the lessons taught by their instructors, on the chess board and beyond
● Grant other students a focused learning environment by not shouting and keeping overall noise to a minimum
● Avoid using rude, disrespectful, or profane language. Slurs or language that targets a particular race, class, sex, gender, or orientation will not be tolerated.
● Display excellent sportsmanship and resolve conflicts with compassion and understanding. Fighting or roughhousing will not be tolerated
Photography Policy Disclaimer:
Photographs and/or video recordings taken at Think Move Chess Academy (“Think Move”) events may be published, either on digital platforms or in print format, including, but not limited to the following: Think Move Chess Academy publications, press releases, magazines, and/or newspapers; www.thinkmovechess.com, social media based websites, accounts, pages, channels, and applications administered by Think Move Chess Academy. (e.g., YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram).
By attending a Think Move event, photographs and/or video recordings of your child at the event may be published in any or all of the above-listed media at the sole discretion of Think Move and without notice or compensation, financial or otherwise, to you for use of such photographs and/or video recordings unless you expressly revoke your consent in writing by notifying the Program Coordinator Jazmine Waiters by email at jwaiters@thinkmovechess.com. Once such consent is revoked, Think Move will make every effort to promptly cause the photograph, video recording, and/or video image to be removed from the digital platform. Think Move is not responsible for access to or downloads of photographs, video recordings, and/or video images made by users of the digital media platform prior to such revocation and removal. You may revoke your consent at any time before a print publication has been published. Once a publication has been distributed, it will not be possible to revoke consent and your child’s photograph and/or video image may continue to be used in any publications already printed prior to the revocation of consent.
Minors will not be identified by name in Think Move photo captions unless they are competing on one of the top boards or have won a championship. Please note that even where images are published without a name, complete anonymity cannot be guaranteed as someone may be able to recognize your child at the event
