SC Chess Championships 2022
2023 SOUTH CAROLINA SCHOLASTIC CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP
Date: Saturday, March 4, 2023 South Carolina Residents Only!
Location: Hampton Park Christian School, 875 State Park Rd, Greenville, SC 29609
Format: 5-Round Swiss System; T/C G/30, d5; HS & MS Rds 4 & 5 G/45, d5
Entry Fee: $25 by Mar 2, 2023; $35 after. Sets provided; bring a clock if you have one. USCF membership required! Please bring your membership card.

Sections: High School (9th-12th gr); Middle School (6th-8th gr); Girls (K-12th); Elementary School (K-5th gr); Primary (K-3rd gr). Girls section winner is SC Girls Champion & qualifies for later Haring Tournament at US Open.
Prizes:
1st-10th place trophies in each section.
1st-3rd place trophies to top teams in each section.
1st placers receive invitations & stipend for Denker (HS), Barber (MS), Rockefeller (K-5), Haring (Girls) tournaments at US Open, July 29-August 1, Grand Rapids, MI.
Please provide proof of SC residence.
Note: Primary K-3 is for new players; ambitious youngsters may play in K-5 for the Elementary School title.
Final Registration and Check-in 8:30 am – 9:45 am. Players must compete within their grade levels.
(Anyone not registered by 9:45 am will not be paired for the first round, but may play the remainder.)
Time Controls: G30, d5 (HS & MS Rds 4 & 5: G/45, d5)
Tournament Schedule
Round 1: 10:00 - 11:00
Round 2: 11:15 - 12:15
Lunch: 12:15 - 1:15
Round 3: 1:15 - 2:15
Round 4: 2:30 - 3:30 (HS & MS: 2:30 – 4:00)
Round 5: 3:45 - 4:45 (HS & MS: 4:15 – 5:45)
ASAP: Awards and Closing Remarks
Tournament Director may adjust the schedule as needed. Restaurants are nearby.
